Seeking an Endorsement from LPHarris
Applying for an endorsement from the Libertarian Party of Harris County (LPHarris) is an opportunity for candidates in non-partisan races to demonstrate their alignment with libertarian values and receive public support from our organization. We welcome all candidates who believe in individual liberty, limited government, and voluntary solutions to apply for our endorsement at the bottom of this page.
Endorsement applications will remain confidential and will only be shared with the County Executive Committee, which will review applications and determine endorsements based on merit.
Endorsement Process
A majority of the County Executive Committee must approve an endorsement. Members who have endorsed, donated, or are paid by a campaign in a race will not participate in the decision for that race.
To apply for endorsement, candidates must secure a written recommendation from at least one voting member of the Libertarian Party of Harris County. While not required, candidates with a sponsor from the County Executive Committee will have a stronger case for endorsement.
LPHarris may conduct a vetting process before making endorsements. This process could include a candidate forum, a poll among LPHarris members, or an interview conducted by the County Executive Committee. These steps help ensure that endorsed candidates reflect libertarian principles and are capable of running an effective campaign.
LPHarris reserves the right not to endorse in any local non-partisan race. An endorsement is not finalized until the candidate signs a memorandum of understanding (MOU), affirming their commitment to libertarian values and campaign ethics.
Benefits of Endorsement
Once endorsed, candidates may publicly announce their endorsement by LPHarris. We will publish a list of endorsed candidates on our website and promote them to libertarian-aligned voters through email and social media. Additional support will be at the discretion of LPHarris.
Endorsed candidates will also gain access to our Candidate Support Hub, which provides valuable resources on running a campaign, navigating election processes, and effectively communicating libertarian principles to voters.
While LPHarris will work to support endorsed candidates, this does not mean we will fund their campaigns or manage their race. Ultimately, the success of a campaign is the candidate’s responsibility.
